Well. According to this post (check the replies for a copy-and-pasted article), the most crucial scene to Norrington's character development was cut out. I mean, yes, it's also the scene that kind of blows the "my unmarried status is getting suspecious, I must wed soon, hey, Elizabeth is single" theory out of the water, but it's so sweet.
Also, it gives Norrington a first name!! A canonical first name, kids! It's (
