Well. According to this post (check the replies for a copy-and-pasted article), the most crucial scene to Norrington's character development was cut out. I mean, yes, it's also the scene that kind of blows the "my unmarried status is getting suspecious, I must wed soon, hey, Elizabeth is single" theory out of the water, but it's so sweet.

Also, it gives Norrington a first name!! A canonical first name, kids! It's (joanne_c, try not to explode) James.

YAY! A first name for Commodore Steve! Oops, I guess I can't call him Commodore Steve anymore. Fuck it, I can too. But three huzzahs for Commodore James Norrington! Huzzah! Huzzah! HUZZAH!

hmmm....I was just going to tell you his name was James O_o...oh, well, you beat me to it...sadly I've become addicted to Orlando Bloom fansites and one fo thme had a link to that deleted scene thingy...very interesting indeed, if I do say so myself. If it was shot, which I do think it was, thne perhaps it will be on the DVD? I hope so, cos I want to see it!
