It has been SUCH a long wait. I was ready to kick his agent in the shins for jerking us all around.

BUT VARITEK HAS RE-SIGNED AND HE IS STAYING AND OH MY GOD I'M GOING TO DIE OF JOY.

There are no words for how happy I am. Tek has been my favourite player since before I'd quite figured the game out. In fact, I do believe I've said all this before.

This is the best Christmas present I could have ever imagined.

I love you, Tek.

And to think I was sitting in the bar just over an hour ago, wondering if it might be better luck to stop wearing my Varitek shirt, much like I haven't used my icon, until we knew one way or the other. I MUST HAVE FAITH IN THE SHIRT.

Just got back from my extended holiday, but wanted to comment late on how very happy this made me too. Now that Nomar's gone Tek's my favorite remaining player, so I'm really glad that, as one sportscaster put it, the Red Sox decided to "spend that Pedro money wisely".
