catslash: (long day)
([personal profile] catslash Nov. 10th, 2004 07:15 am)
I know we are shortstaffed at work. I know my manager is working insane psycho hours to make up for the deficit. I'm about to start taking bets as to when he will be hospitalized for exhaustion.

But this is the SECOND TIME IN THREE DAYS that I have dragged myself out of my nice warm waterbed onto the freezing cold street and stumbled down to Cumberland Farms at seven in the morning - BANG ON TIME I MIGHT ADD - to find the doors locked. Monday I took a two hour hit on my paycheck. I wonder how long before we get hold of Kevin today? I'm going to have a little chat with him. I had best see ALL my hours on my paycheck next week or I AM LEAVING (okay, probably not, but I feel better for having said it). I wonder if the Discovery Channel Store would still be interested in taking me on. I bet THEY open on time EVERY DAY.

The Key.....

Ask your store manager for a set of keys. Seriously. It'll look like you're looking to be an assistant manager and with being short staffed, it's possible you'll get the position and the keys. Hell, ASK to become an assistant Manager and to get a set of keys. That way, if no one is there, open the place yourself.

Sure this means *you* may need to work some insane hours, but it also means more pay.
