Man, how creepy was the opening scene in Angel last night? "You know what to do, Tommy [or Timmy, or whatever] . . . touch it, Tommy, touch it, that's a good boy . . . oh yeah . . . *moan* . . ." EW. How the hell did that get past the censors? (For those of you who don't watch: "it" is a TV and the speaker a puppet in a kids' show.) Sure set the tone for the surreal creepiness that was that ep. And actually, I mean most of this in a good way. *dies*

Just had a job interview at a gas station called Irving; I think it went well, and from what the manager told me, it sounds like they engage in that mystical activity called "giving a shit about the employees." Which by extension means that they also care about the customers, two things that are important to me. Especially working at Movie "Fuck you and your mom" Gallery.

Pulled out my copy of "Factory Showroom" by They Might Be Giants last night and gave it a listen. I hadn't heard it in months. Forgot how brilliant it is. I should get more of their CDs. Maybe I should even buy a real copy of FS, 'cos mine is burned. *shh* In my world, it's okay to burn an entire CD when it's one you would never buy, except now it's one that I would buy, so I feel a bit guilty. Sigh.

Yeah, I was -going- to watch the episode, but I saw that scene and decided... no, I don't really want to watch after all.

And good luck with the job!

uh, no.

I can't really get into the details now, because the school computer keeps freezing if I type too much, but no.

the Irvings are a very influential business family in Canada. kind of like royalty -- it's that insane. I've had friends that worked for Irving gas stations, and my dad works for a company owned by the Irvings. none of them have given me stellar comments about their treatment of employees.

if you want, I can IM you later with details, or you can call my dad to talk to him, but I strongly advise against you working for that company. "giving a shit about employees" my ass. if that's true, the american Irving must be an ENTIRE different company.

It could very well be. But even if it is, I'm not exactly flush with job options over here. Irving's pretty much the best I've got. Besides, I was really impressed with what the woman told me. Some of it sounds like better than I've gotten from any other company I've worked for. It's just a short term stopgap, anyway.

Thanks for the concern, though, hon, I do appreciate your looking out for me. =)

Re:

with any luck, the management of the american chain will be decent and not take advantage of the fact that most younger employees don't know their rights. >__>

Re:

Ugh, I had that happen to me at Dunkin Donuts: I was sixteen years old and they had me closing alone at ten at night. In a very safe town, granted, but that's still just not right. And I got in trouble for bringing in a radio to play so I wouldn't get scared being alone. I'm not much for holding grudges, but I'm still angry about that.

-whimper- I can't believe I missed that so my stupid roommate could watch The O.C. I heard it was so good, too. -sob-

Whoa. I got a random comment on my journal from somebody who "came across it one day and couldn't stop reading." I must be compelling as hell!
