Hooray! I get to work tomorrow, which allows me to avoid the whole Thanksgiving nonsense, thus in turn fulfilling a dream I've had since I was fifteen!

I just don't like Thanksgiving. It's a specious holiday designed to torment our stomachs by both rupturing them with food and developing ulcers from dealing with family. And this may be an anti-Thanksgiving cliche, but I'm also not so keen on the whole "Woooo, we shamelessly thieved the land from the natives and slaughtered them by the millions! Go us!" thing.

So tomorrow, I shall work until three-thirty, at which time I shall go home, accompanied by a copy of PotC (hey, something to give thanks for!), and put together the meal I bought myself today (turkey-free, thanks), and enjoy myself, by myself. (Thank goodness I don't drive, else I'd have to come up with an excuse for not being able to join the family after work.) Sans turkey. We had it last week, and as I ate I realized that I have had my fill of it for the next five years or so. My only regret is that I was unable to convince my dad to buy me rum for my eggnog. And for toasting Captain Jack. It's just like the 2000 elections, actually - I can't play because I'm two months too young. Dammit.

Oh, well. Happy Thanksgiving to you all, however you choose to celebrate it. Or not to.

Thank you for putting into words how I feel about Thanksgiving. Sadly, I will be among the masses surrounded by family tomorrow as I'm finally giving into my parents' wishes and going to see a grandmother in San Diego. Meh.

Wasn't too terrible except for the long ride in both directions. It's just... I never really liked this grandmother and now that I don't have to see her unless I want to, my parents choose to bug me into seeing her.
