Well. It's nice when the episode titles are true.

Sorry, Supernatural. Acknowledging the cliché doesn't make it less of one.

It was a good action episode, but man.

Yes. The ghouls were pretty awesome, and I especially liked the actress who played the "mother," but secret kid wtf.

My thoughts exactly. It was really like a fanfic come to life.

At least they didn't keep him around for future meet-ups, and ~*Grand Adventures*~ though.

The twist was good. I'll give them that.

Yeah, thank god. But they had to know full well that that was the only way they could possibly have gotten away with it. Leaving him alive would have been stupid on every level, starting a major disruption to the entire mythos, dynamic, and premise of the show and working its way up from there.

Agreed. On all accounts.

I was rolling my eyes when Adam was all, "I want to help. I want to do anything I can to help you guys." If it wasn't action-packed, I'm not sure I could watch the rest of it. I could've sworn I've read premises for long-lost Winchester siblings on the Pit of Voles.

And as for your comment below: DAWN. ARGH. I never liked her either! She just came out of nowhere and was automatically loved by everyone. Just - no.

And yeah. I'm not saying John was a saint, but to spend time with this boy, taking him to goddamn baseball games, while he left his two other sons in hotel rooms? SO NOT COOL. I don't want to hate John, but that is a shitty thing to do; I don't care how much he wanted Adam to have a normal childhood.

Huh. I'm curious why you thought that? I thought they dealt with it exceptionally well. And it made sense to me within the context of the rest of the story.

I hated the very premise. It doesn't matter to me how well they did or didn't deal with it (though I do think they did it in the only way they could have), because every second of it felt like the kind of fanfic I run screaming from. I never liked Dawn on BtVS, either. They worked her into the show very creatively, but I still resented the disruption of her introduction. (And this is with having missed the entire season she was introduced in. I suspect that if I'd actually seen her debut, I would have been even more annoyed.) If they'd tried on SPN to pull a Dawn with whats-his-face, I would have seriously reconsidered my already-slowly-waning attachment to the show.

And don't even get me started on the fresh material for the John-haters. Ugh.

And New Brother Kid doesn't even sound like he's from Minnesota. What's up with that?

From: [identity profile] gileonnen.livejournal.com

(I mean, sure, ghouls have no vested interest in accents. But still. Minnesota has one of the most distinctive regional accents out there. This is just unacceptable Epic Failure.)

That shoulda been the tip-off right there. Eff silver and holy water, the kid's got no accent!

From: [identity profile] gileonnen.livejournal.com

XD XD XD Exactly. But this goes back to a conversation I had with [livejournal.com profile] deralte once--Supernatural is really faily with regard to regional Americana. Possibly because they're filming in Canada, possibly because they seriously don't care.
