Oh, Gossip Girl. That finale was perfection. No big long post because I am still overwhelmed by the awesome brilliance of it all.
That is how you do a finale. Bring everything that has happened all season long to a head and have it come crashing down. Don't shy away from the devastation, and give us a peek at what's left standing when the dust begins to settle. Just in case I needed a reminder of why I love this show so, I have it now. My love is confirmed. And they did a splendid job of using the truncated half-length season to its fullest potential. I feel utterly satisfied, not cheated at all, and I am positive that the next season will be worth the wait.
You know I love you, Gossip Girl. XOXO.

Let's see. I can't remember exactly what happened when so some of this might be repeating stuff. Dan told Serena he loved her and she said, "Okay," which freaked Dan out about as much as the L-Word freaked Serena out. Serena talked to Eric about it and they realized that Lily's series of marriages has really undermined both of their abilities to trust the L-Word when they hear it. Also during that conversation, Serena mentioned Jenny's mysteriously knowing about Chuck and Blair, and Eric pointed out the obvious: Younger siblings eavesdrop whenever they get the chance. So Serena went over to the loft and explained to Dan about the L-Word making her nervous, and asked him to tell her why he loved. He obliged, citing her ability to "go out with someone like me and be best friends with someone like Blair" as one of the things he loves, which made her realize that she'd sort of tripped in the friend department. So she told Dan that she loved him, but she had to go. She caught up with Blair getting ready to board the plane to France and talked her into staying in a truly awesome scene that you need to see - the ep will be up on The CW's website eventually. The episode ended with that scene and GG herself gleeing about how Blair is gonna take some bitches DOWN.
Rufus had a boring storyline designed to set up further roadblocks for himself and Lily next season. Go away, Bex, though I can't really blame you and I applaud your good taste.
With all the upheaval in the social scene, Jenny found herself part of the in crowd, in what appeared to be a pretty strong position. There was a whole thing with a new wannabe, Elise, making with the same eager behavior as Jenny herself earlier in the season, and Jenny clearly seeing and being a bit unnerved by the resemblance in that and in the way the group was treating Elise. She went along with it, though, even if she did have the kindness to discreetly return Elise's dorky little wave as the group walked off.
I think that's it. And I'm so glad that more and more people in my flist come out of the GG closet every week. XD It's a good show, dammit!
