Because I have only seen one post on my flist about it, I feel the need to fill the space a little:

Anna Nicole Smith is dead.

She never interested me very much, but it seems strange that my flist has thus far been so quiet about it. Of course, we're coming up on the five year anniversary of Kevin Smith's death (the Kiwi actor, not the filmmaker - obviously), so I'm maybe I'm just feeling a little contemplative about celebrity deaths right now.

My heart breaks for all the wank (http://www.journalfen.net/community/fandom_wank) that we will be missing out on. Sure, we still have fanficrants, customerssuck, badservice, and so on, but ONTD brought the special wank. And this is craptacular timing; you know this would have been the finest wank yet.

My flist is exploding in Anna Nicole. Every other post has been about her. I don't really care/not care for her particularly, but it's still kind of sad to me.

Yeah, I've always been neutral on Anna Nicole myself, but this is a sad thing. She had a rough time, and the death of her son was especially awful.

I had never before understood why people got so upset over celebrity deaths, but his death broke my heart. I was in genuine grief. It still makes me sad to think about it.

Though she's (as far as I know) virtually unknown around here, her death was mentioned on the news, along with an explanation of who she actually was.
