I finally hate Derek Jeter. That is all.

Except that I'm really glad I listened to the game rather than enduring FOX. I think I would have pitched my television through the wall by the third inning.

Princess A-Rod caught my attention. He's so easy to hate that Jeter slipped under my radar. A-Rod does very specific and highly hateable things, where Jeter is more a sort of low-grade, general hateable and easy to miss with the Princess drawing attention. (Remember, I've only been watching baseball since late '03.)

It's true - I have two anti-AROD icons and no anti-Jeter ones. I hate them both, just in different ways... I feel like A-Rod's loathability comes from a combination low self-esteem/ego complex thing, whereas Jeter's just comes from his sense of utter and unflappable superiority.

But really it's the motherfucking fist pump/smirk combo that gets me.

I can't deal with watching him at bat. He moves like a squirrel on crack. His physical mannerisms irritate me greatly.

You know how Eskimos (supposedly) have 100 different words for different types of snow? I feel like I need different words to describe the exact way that I hate each Yankee. Like, my hatred of A-Rod is different than my hatred of Jeter, and my hatred of Giambi has a different quality, and so does my hatred of Posada. I think I'll make up a dictionary.

You know, I hate the Jeter fist pump, too, don't get me wrong. But the thing is, is that really that different than Papelbon or Beckett doing it when they get that last out? Probably not, it just seems a lot more annoying to us. :)
