Kind of been a while, hasn't it? I know I've been hideously lax in posting this summer, but I've been struggling with a lot of stuff, and everything is changing now.

I am in college. I am not working at Cumberland Farms. I have financial aid for my tuition (and, because I am extra broke with a side of destitute, it also covered my books with some to spare), and I'm going to get a student loan for living expenses. I'm in the Liberal Studies program, since this is a community college and I cannot major in English here. I'm going to transfer somewhere - probably University of Southern Maine, which is right in Portland - where I can major in English and find out what needs doing to be a librarian, because y'all? Working at a convenience store SUCKS. I cannot do it anymore, and I am hellbent on doing what it takes to better myself and get a real job. And if that must involve Introduction to Algebra, then so be it.

I just got out of a great class, actually - Foundation of Sport. What does that have to do with Liberal Studies? Um. Nothing. But I dropped Freshman Seminar (not what I thought it would be; all about stuff that was pounded into my head from eighth grade on, plus? GRADES ON OUR NOTEBOOKS, SPEAKING OF EIGHTH GRADE) and needed another class to stay fulltime and keep my financial aid, and FoS was available and sounded interesting. My first class proved interesting indeed and I'm very excited about this one; it's all about the business, intellectual, and psychological aspects of sports, and I would love to learn more about all of those. ALSO DUDE. My teacher taught at Old Dominion and GUESS WHO SHE TAUGHT NO JUST GUESS JUSTIN VERLANDER THAT'S WHO. I may have squealed when she identified my Tigers hat and informed the class of such. DEGREE OF SEPARATION OMG.

Anyway, the rest of my classes are pretty standard - English Composition, Algebra, and Psych - and I won't bore you with the details. Except that I'm finding I have too few classes because I didn't realize when I made my schedule how light it was. Gotta get organized for next semester and use my time better; it's too late to add another now, I'm lucky FoS fit my schedule and had space available and doesn't suck hardcore. If I'm not going to be working, then I better be schooling.

In conclusion, WTF Red Sox please don't anyone die and I unfortunately mean that literally, and snap out of it Tigers and you win Craig Monroe I don't hate you anymore though it still wouldn't kill you to take the occasional first pitch, and YAY Astros for signing Oswalt for five years! Now that things are settling down I will try to post more often. And since I have a three-hour gap between classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays, you will probably be seeing "omg bored" posts popping up at about this time on those days.

I'm so happy you're enjoying college. I know you can do it!

See if your college has a work-study that might employ you during that gap...you'll be a lot less bored, and make a little bit of pocket change to have on hand for fun stuff.

I think I may end up using it for my algebra homework, actually; I can go to the Learning Center and get help if I need it. And I probably will, as I am crap with learning anything that gets more complex that 2+2.

Good idea. I'm crap with math too.

I'm going to see if I can get a work-study tutoring English. The dean of student services seems like a decent guy, which is good - he's my professor in this bullshit College Success course I have to take.

Wow! Congrats on getting yourself separated from Verlander by only one degree. And, you know, if you can get friendly with the prof? You might be able to dig up some dirt.

Don't worry about the light schedule, my first quarter of college was the same way. I actually think it's good. You don't get overwhelmed up front, and the boredom motivates you to do more next time.
