catslash: (reason to stay)

First off, sympathy to the wrestling fans on my friendslist over Eddie Guerrero's death. I've been there; I still vividly remember when Kevin Smith died (no, not that one, the other one). It sucks a lot harder than you'd think it would.

On a lighter note, today I visited [livejournal.com profile] peaseblossom03 and [livejournal.com profile] twistor to watch the Pats game with them. They both know stuff about football, and I don't, so it was part visit part tutorial. At one point, [livejournal.com profile] twistor and I got into a lengthy argument discussion about the validity of the Win statistic as a measure of a pitcher's worth. My position: It's a load of crap. His argument: Is not! Funny, I thought mathematicians were supposed to be smart and stuff. ;)

My favorite part, though, was how I found the updates at the bottom of the screen on the Lions game more exciting than the actual game I was watching. I can't even blame my friends this time, man, I have way more Pats fans than Lions fans on my friendslist. Maybe I lived in Detroit in a past life? Maybe I'm already oversaturated with the Patriots? Or maybe I found it easier to understand the minimal information in the little black score bar than I did the many many things happening on the rest of the screen? That's probably it. I did enjoy the little recap about Joey Harrington playing the hell out of that game, though. Go Lions?

*gasps* I never a) knew Ares name b) knew he died. Also, yeah, I thought it was the other one. Wow, my sympathies...? I don't know what one would say since he's been gone for a while. Though, I'm sure it doesn't feel like all that long.

LOL football confuses the hell out of me too and my girlfriend loves it, LMAO.

Actually, the way I found out, about a week after the fact, was an announcement on the other Kevin's website clarifying the matter. It hit me so hard, dude, I never understood before why people get so upset when celebrities die - not like it's someone you know - but I really grieved. Went through the five stages and everything. It sucked. It has been over three and a half years, so I've accepted it and all, but it was bad when it happened, so I understand how you must feel right now.
