catslash: (what now?)

The first question on today's voting ballot.

"Do you want to reject the new law that would protect people from discrimination in employment, housing, education, public accommodations and credit based on their sexual orientation?"

In other words, we're tryin' ta keep them queers down. What do they think they are, human or US citizens with valid rights or something?

Don't you love that this is an actual issue being actually voted on in fucking 2005? Don't you wanna come live here? I mean, what are we, Texas? This is so embarrassing. THIS IS MAINE. WE ARE A BLUE STATE. EQUAL RIGHTS FOR EVERYONE. Except the queers.

Being bisexual, I of course have a certain stake in seeing the new law upheld, but even if I were straight as an arrow I'd be appalled. Embarrassing.

You know, the way that damn thing is worded, a lot of people are gonna be confused and vote wrong.

Not if they've paid attention to the ad campaigns or done even a little homework on the questions, they won't. Besides which, we are able to reuse the slogan from a few years ago, "Vote No on 1: Maine Won't Discriminate," which is helpful. You know, it's familiar and all.

At least I know I'm not the only one stuck in a stupid state. I. Hate. Texas. Hate it with a fucking passion.

Being bisexual myself, it's insane here regarding any kind of sexual orientation issues. Nothing else pisses me off to such an incredible degree as all the fucking conservatives in this state convinced they are living in the 1920's still. RAHRG.

I call anarchy.
