I had an adorable customer today.
This guy came in just as I was getting together my paperwork at the end of my shift. He was reeling drunk and had an Irish accent, so when he was asking Chris for help at her register, she couldn't understand a word he was saying as he asked for "Irish stuff." I, having heard plenty of Irish accents in movies and TV and such, understood perfectly and smilingly took him off her hands, because, drunk Irish guy! Awwww.
It took a little discussion after that (plus a couple sentences from him that really were incoherent, regardless of how familiar I am with irish accents) to work out that what he was looking for was just stuff he could get at home, like Mars Bars and such. So I helped him find candy he was happy with. And also, for some reason, a bag of sour cream and onion chips. Maybe because the bag was violently green? I don't know, but he liked it and was very polite.
So, not much of a story, really, but it was fun to help out the drunk and perhaps rather homesick Irish guy. Also, usually I'm the one turning to my coworkers for help with stuff like that, so it was nice to be the one who understood what the customer meant for once.
