Wow, the Astros/Braves game sounds like it was absolutely insane. I'm sorry I missed it. I'll have to check it out on MLBTV.

The Astros won it 7-3 (and I discovered that I was able to check the scores on my cell phone at work, which is so dangerous for my cell phone bill, but playoffs are a time to make exceptions), which puts them up 2-1 in the series. One more win, boys. Let's do this shit. Brandon Backe is starting tomorrow against Tim Hudson, who sucked in Game One and will be pitching on three days' rest. Interesting. AND I'll be able to watch it, since I have tomorrow off! Yay!

Eighteen innings.

Eighteen exhausting, tricky, gut-wrenching, heart-stopping, record-setting innings.

Five home runs.

Two grand slams.

Five hundred and fifty-three pitches.

A homer that almost wasn't.

A homer that almost was.

Fourteen pitchers.

Three innings of relief from the finest starter in baseball.

Thirteen runs.

Two teams, locked in a game that turned from a near-laugher to an epic battle, one that drained both bullpens dry, one that almost went one way or another a thousand times, one that kept the adrenalin humming for those who played and those who watched.

One winner.

My winner.

My boys.

My Astros.

New icon and embarrassing problem.

See, thanks to superstition, I haven't really watched the Astros much this year (when I did, they sucked, and when I got distracted by my other teams, the 'Stros started winning, so I stayed away), so while I know the players' names, I do not know most of them by sight. I found this picture in a comment from [livejournal.com profile] zitolove without a caption. So. I have an awesome icon of awesome guys and no idea who they are. Help?

Oh, yeah, and I made this, anyone who wants to gank it can, no credit necessary 'cos it took two and a half minutes, yadda yadda.

Hmm. The other day I mentioned this dream I had about the first game of the NLDS the night before it was played.

[. . .] so I dreamed that Andy Pettitte couldn't make the start for some reason, so Roger Clemens went on very short rest, but we won anyway 3-1.

While Andy Pettitte had nothing to do with today's game (though he was the only pitcher left who could possibly have gone; Roy Oswalt, the only other 'Stros pitcher who didn't play, started yesterday and couldn't have done it), Roger Clemens did indeed go on very short rest. And we won the series 3-1.

Interesting. I remember thinking it odd that I specifically dreamed that score.
