catslash: (reason to stay)

Over at [livejournal.com profile] redsox, we have a guy who's been writing up previews for each series this year. He got around to this one a little late, so I decided to take a crack at it. I enjoyed writing it, as comparing and contrasting the strengths and weaknesses of two teams I know well is very interesting, and I'm kind of pleased with how it came out, so I'm sharing it here.

It's written for Sox fans, so it won't tell you Tigers fans much you don't know, but feel free to read it anyway. ;)

Lengthy preview ahoy! )

So in conclusion, I am predicting nothing, because last time around I quite confidently and at some length predicted a Red Sox sweep, and we know how that went.

This is the first time I have done anything this in depth, so if you read it, please let me know what you thought. Was it informative? Was it useless? Was it entertaining? Do I suck? Do I even know what I'm talking about? Do you have anything to add?

Thanks!

First, a random meme. I don't generally like memes, but this one looked like fun. Ganked from [livejournal.com profile] offspeed.

Make a list of all the characters in your icons. (Although you may have more than one icon of a single character, they only go on the list once.) Alphabetize it. Take the first two people on the list; that's your first pairing. Second two people; second pairing. Etc.

It's a short list, since I only have fifteen icons and had to cut Joe Torre to make it an even number, how sad, but I'll cut-tag it anyway. )

On the topic of tonight's game, a letter.

Dear Alan Trammell,

Yes, I know you probably still feel stupid for pulling Nate last week and losing the game for your team. However, that does not need to translate into leaving JJ in when he is erratic, throwing wildly, and just doesn't have it. Why did you let him go into the sixth? Why did you then leave him in to give up four runs? Again, Tram, AGAIN, your team should have won this game, and if their manager paid attention to the pitching, they would have. You are not Lou Piniella, so quit trying to get yourself fired.

And yes, PHing Nook for McDonald proved to be a good idea, but that does not get you off the hook. Thanks a lot for wasting some fine work from the offense, including the rare Inge homerun and the suddenly reoccurring Pudge homer.

Stop it, Tram. Please. You are killing us.

Still A Little Love But Don't Damn Well Push Me,
Cathryn

Yes, I'm glad of the Sox win because we needed it to stay two and a half games over the Yankees, but GOD.

As for my other manager, that's five ejections this season. I love you, Tito, and I love when you get mad, because you work the sarcastic body language like nobody's business and it is so fun to watch. You get a cookie.

Ugh, I have to miss the game tomorrow because I was randomly scheduled to work second shift. Haaaate. Hopefully I'll be working with someone who will let me listen to the game, and hopefully the station will be nice and come in. *hopes*

Oh, and hate me if you wish, but that was a homerun. Just barely, and I've no idea how the umpires got the call right without benefit of much replay, but it was.
