There is a saying here in Maine: "If you don't like the weather, just wait a minute."

Or, you know, overnight.

Yesterday was hot and nasty and muggy and wet, and it stayed that way. When I went out at midnight for my pre-bedtime smoke, it wasn't any cooler outside than it was in my stuffy little room. (Note to self: Get a fan. And a piece of wood for propping the window open with.) I stripped the blankets off my bed and went to sleep under a sheet, not wearing too awful much.

Cut to about four-thirty, when I wake to the sound of tons of water falling from the sky. It wasn't just rain, it was loud sheets. "Good," I thought, "maybe it will cool things off a little." I got up to pee, found the rest of the apartment to be much cooler, and juryrigged a way to open my window a little before I went back to sleep.

I woke up chilly this morning. When I eventually dragged myself out of bed to make coffee, I poked my head outside. AND IT IS COLD OUT THERE.

My state is so weird.

Bah. My MLBTV subscription reached the end of its cycle today, since I had to cancel the card it was on and haven't gotten my new one yet, so I cannot pay for another month, so no Tigers or Astros for me until the new card comes. *cries*

On the other hand, that does make it a little easier to choose between Pettitte or Wells tonight, so there is that.

Also, I went to the laundromat today, and brought my notebook with me, and got bored, so you may all look forward to a further installment of baseball zombie fic as soon as I get it typed up. I can sense your excitement from here. ;)

BOOMAH. I said in IM with [livejournal.com profile] piney61 after the seventh: "I love when he has awesome games like that. It makes me want to post big fat TOLD YOU SOs all over my journal. BECAUSE I DID." So it's a good thing I don't do TOLD YOU SOs. Final score: 7-0, with Boomer, Timlin and Foulke combining to give up just the one hit. And Manny had his third consecutive game with a homerun, and then he made out with Millar. Okay, not really. At least not during the game.

So [livejournal.com profile] all_ahoo loaned me use of her MLBTV account, because she is the Queen of Awesome, so I got to watch Pettitte after all.

Uh. Oh man. Oh Astros. A a few innings ago, I was all planning a letter to them scolding them for leaving eighty basquillion men on base (like, it's nice of you guys to want to emulate the Red Sox, but maybe you should try that in some other department) while Andy's out there pitching a lovely game, only giving up three runs, and for once there was no excuse for you not to be ahead there . . .

But then, the eighth inning. Andy's still out there. As it turns out, Andy should not still be out there, because Andy gives up three more runs. Oops. Final score, unfortunately, 6-1. That was just a bad game. They lost that one very, very thoroughly.

The Tigers game was delayed for a while in the second inning because of rain - hey, that sounds familiar - so they are currently tied at three with the Padres in the sixth.

Okay. Off to finish typing up baseball zombie DOOM nonsense.

Okay. As promised, more baseball zombie fic. That is hella fun to write in a laundromat, much better than trying to read a book. It might just have to be my ongoing laundry activity.

See above link for disclaimer.

In which Derek does some thinking, TEH FARNS does some thinking, and Tino would apparently prefer not to do any thinking. )
