*dies* A new Discworld novel has been out for four whole days and I didn't know about it. Bad fan. Bad.

In other news, I was talking to Amanda last night, when she mentioned that she'd seen me on AIM for, like, two seconds at a time. Weird. I asked her to check my e-mail (you know you're close with someone when . . .) and she found an LJ comment notice about Anji's mentioning the same thing. Weird.

Absolutely the only reason I can think of for this is that, after I called a friend, I found that when I used AIM on her home computer, my password somehow got saved. Her theory was that a friend of hers had been fooling around. So she unsaved my password. I have not been on AIM once since I left Mom's weekend before last. So, if you see me, it's not me. Unless, of course, I IM you. Sorry for the confusion.

A drabble-and-a-half. Maybe I should ease up a little on the Roseanne reruns.

The top news story that evening had something to do with gay rights. Dan, who had years ago perfected the art of watching the news without allowing himself to become informed, wasn't really paying attention until David said:

"What do you think of that kind of stuff, Mr Conner?"

Dan glanced at David, who was staring intently at the television.

"Live and let live, David. I have better things to worry about."

"I think it's pathetic." David didn’t look at Dan as he talked. "I mean, it's so obvious that these guys just can't get women. I mean, you and I both know that guys'll do anything when they can't get a girl."

"Fact?"

"Fact."

"Uh-huh." Dan took a swig from his beer can and paused just long enough to let David think he'd gotten away with something before asking, "And exactly what did you do before Darlene?"

". . . that's not the point here."

"Right."
