Surreal Life discussion time!

YAY the love I've had for Bronson Pinchot since I was a child has been killed dead! =D

What a pig. It may not have been the most invasive of grabs, but that is not the point. The point is that he grabbed, she said no, and he tried it again. And again. And then he's surprised when she gets upset? And his response to her sobbing hysterically on the phone to her friend is to wander over and go, "I wasn't groping you"? Instead of, oh I don't know, "I'm sorry I upset you," maybe? WRONG ANSWER.

God. The whole thing reminded me a lot of the Sue/Richard controversy on the All-Star Survivors season. Basically, Richard got naked (yeah, he did that a lot) during a challenge and shoved his dick up against Sue twice. She did not like it. On Survivor, there is a TON of downtime with nothing to do, so Sue had lots of time to think about how much she did not like it. She ended up just having a meltdown and leaving the show, and there was a lot of discussion as to whether her hysteria was genuine or fabricated for attention or sympathy. I think that it was real, because either that or she deserves an Oscar for that performance, and I also think that the circumstances she was in magnified the situation and made it a lot worse for her. Ditto on Janice. Probably if she was just out clubbing or whatever and a guy groped her, she'd just shove him off or call security or something, but in this already weird, unsettled situation, she just melted down. I'm sure she was aware of the cameras, but that doesn't make her distress any less real. Nice reactions from the others. Real charming.

Anyway. Creepy drama aside, I love it so far, of course. The way they set up Canseco's entrance was completely unfair and totally hilarious. They all wanted to run and hide and pee themselves when he walked in. Awesome.

Favorite housemates so far: Carey, who seems like a sweetheart, and Pepa, who seems wicked cool.

I loved Pepa's and Janice's different reactions to Pepa's calming Janice down in the bathroom. Pepa was just like, "Yeah, we had a moment, it was nice," and Janice was all, "Gotta get in her pants." Fantastic.

Caprice trying to take care of the dog and losing her patience within thirty seconds. I'm sure there's a crew member to care for Lucky, so I'm not worried about him being at the mercy of the housemates or anything.

Omarosa being all tough bitch, and then going all shocked and giggly when Canseco offered to beat her.

The previews! Is it wrong of me to find the prospect of Canseco in drag hot? Because, putting aside my liking for drag to begin with, a Manly Man who has no problem putting on girly things and make-up is definitely hot. Hooray for having utter confidence in one's sexuality!

I love Surreal Life anyway; I adored the first two seasons on the WB, and was sad when it moved to VH1 and I couldn't watch it anymore. I'm not sure how much the show has evolved between then and now, but I do think that this is the most dysfunctional cast I've seen yet. The first two were fairly well-mixed, with some crazies and some assholes and some people who'd managed to remain human. (Did you know that Ron Jeremy is incredibly down to earth?) This like if the entire first season had been Corey Feldman, with maybe Jerri Manthey also thrown in for a bit of relatively normal perspective. In the first two seasons, and from the one VH1 ep I saw, the casts all ended up bonding during the shooting and were all sad to leave at the end. I'm wondering if these people are going to able to do that.

I am also looking forward to seeing which incredibly random friendships form. I'm not sure they'll be able to top the bizarreness of Ron Jeremy and Tammy Faye Messner becoming buddies in the second season, though.

JOSE CANSECO IN DRAG!!!!!111

Now THAT sounds like barrels of fun! You know, if Millar retires anytime soon, will ANY of us be surprised if he ends up on this show if it keeps going?
