Really, Terry, you couldn't leave Clement in to get one more lousy out? Do you think Alan Embree does not see through your cheap ploy to boost his confidence? Do you think Clement does not want to strangle you right now? What do you have against your starters getting complete games, anyway? You've done this to Boomer a couple times, too. Quit it.
Red Sox won 7-4, which gives them a four game lead over the Orioles.
I missed most of it, though, because a glance at my friends list informed me that the Tigers/Indians game was on ESPN, so of course I jumped on the chance to see normal-TV-sized Tigers instead of itty bitty MLBTV-sized Tigers. Especially for a Bondo start. =D My TV does not allow me to watch two channels at once, so I had to settle for checking the Sox game during commercials.
Bondo was, of course, fantastic, giving up two runs and five hits over eight innings and not even blinking after giving up a homer. Kid has ice water in his veins when he's on the mound.
Pudge got some actual hits; he got an RBI and scored a run on an awesome dash to the plate when they just couldn't manage to get him out. I am sorry I yelled at you, Pudge. I still love you.
Magglio got a two run double, and is it just me or have all his RBI hits so far scored two runs? Chris Shelton got sixty-seven more RBIs. Well, not really, but close.
Alan Trammell futzed around weirdly with the pitching in the ninth - put in Jamie Walker, let him get two guys out and put two guys on, pull him out, put in Chris Spurling, let him give up a run, pull him out, finally bring out Troy Percival, let him manage to get a save without letting any runs score. Bizarre. But the Tigers won 7-3. Bondo is the first Tiger since 1991 to get eleven wins before the All-Star Break. GO BONDO.
I managed to squeeze in the last couple of innings of the Astros game, too. Other than the weirdness of seeing Dave Roberts put in to pinch-run against my team - *twitch* *twitch* - I didn't see too much of note. All the good stuff happened before I got there. Although seeing Chad Qualls get out of a bases loaded jam was nice, especially since the Astros had gone from having a 5-1 lead to a 5-4 lead. It ended with the final score at 5-4, and amazingly enough, Phil Garner opted not to pull any cute tricks with the pitching in the ninth. Oh, and of course Morgan Ensberg played a role in two of those five runs. LOVE.
So all three of my teams win again tonight, and I feel much better than I did two days ago.
