Have new Red Sox icon in preparation for upcoming Red Sox posts I may just have to make. Isn't it pretty? Jason Varitek's been my favourite since before I'd worked out how to understand baseball, and I think he always will be. Sure, Johnny's charming and Bellhorn's adorable with those sandy curls and Manny is crazy and Pedro and Curt are winning machines, but Tek is steadfast and solid and quiet (until you fuck with one of his pitchers; then you'd best get the hell out of the way) and if the Red Sox had a team captain, it would be him. Also, he's a damn fine player, but if you're on the Sox, that's a given.

Well unfortunately they're down 6 as I write this, but at least it's just game 1. Goooooo Sox! And your icon is righteous. Coincidentally, my fantasy football team's logo this year is an old school red "B" on a blue background. Sound familiar?
