I am totally skeptical! First I was like "yay, moar Torchwood" and then I was like ".......aw shit, this is going to suck," and then I was like "well, maybe it'll be fun even if it sucks," and then I was like "but maybe it'll just suck in a non-enjoyable way." We'll see, I guess!
Those last three options do pretty much cover virtually the entire run of Torchwood to date.
(Yes, including CoE, which I have not been able to watch since discovering TToI. I just can't deal with the government scenes anymore! Or the fact that Malcolm would be able to sort the 456 in ten minutes between bollockings.)
Jack and Gwen running around the planet, apparently. I'm sure it will make perfect sense and mesh seamlessly with the CoE finale as well as whatever will be established in the next year of Whoniverse output!
"Children of Earth" was the name of the miniseries they aired as series three; people generally call it CoE rather than series three/S3/stuff like that.
How about "Sarah Jane is AWESOME." Surely that's a reason to watch her spinoff!
I fully do not blame you for ignoring Torchwood. *g*
I am completely skeptical. Aren't they already making a version for the states that still has John Barrowman in it? His mind's going to feel warped or something. He can be like Life on Mars, but with less coma!
Is it? Nice. I liked "Back to Earth," which I think put me in the minority, but whatev, I'm a great big sucker for meta humor so I would have liked it no matter what.
Yeah, though it's kinda funny, Craig leaked it on the radio so Kryten's actor leaked it too, through twitter, and they made him delete a bunch of tweets about it. Because containing an online source when you can't contain the radio that already told everyone makes complete sense.
I'm in the super-super minority in that I still haven't seen it yet. I should probably rectify this.
As much as I'd love an intelligent reset, meaning something not too obvious that restored the old show in some way, I'm not looking forward to the endless campaigns starting up again. **sigh** I honestly think there'd be *more* chance of it if they stopped trying, lol.
I live in fear of the possibility of success. Months of obnoxious BS, whining, and scary-ass RL shrines should not be rewarded, dammit. Mostly I trust RTD not to, if only because he loves pissing off fandom so much, but there's always the chance.
Besides which, our favorite character died TWICE and you don't hear us moaning endlessly on.
Exactly. I would love to see Owen back, but like you say, we haven't done anything outrageous to try and force their hand. And also, ya know, what are the odds the poor bugger'd end up dying three times?
With CoE, it all happened so fast, that it didn't really bother me. Five episodes one after another? Sure. Ten episodes all drawn out and ridiculous? We'll see.
Yeah, I think that was part of why CoE seemed so good - not enough time between eps to really think about it. In retrospect, large chunks of it kind of fail a lot.
It is also why I prefer closed canons. *facepalm* I still have quite a bit of autonomy with Cal because probably eighty-five percent of canon events have nothing to do with him, but that extra fifteen percent has been pretty hit-or-miss in the last year. By which I mostly mean "I hate you RTD do not fuck this up like you did with EVERYTHING last year wtf."
My only skepticism is the fear that this could be another false alarm. Otherwise, I'm in a rare mood of unicorns and rainbows over the possibility of Jack & Gwen (if not Jack/Gwen) and something like the show we were originally promised.

I did follow SJA the first series, but then I got told "if you want to retain your love for the first series, never watch the second". ;.;
I'll watch it if Martha and Mickey show up. I want to see their hijinks. :D

In the picture that goes along with this Torchwood news, they all sort of look like "What, we have to do this AGAIN?"
-- which, did you see Red Dwarf is coming back, too? Perhaps better news. Or BBC resurrecting a lot of things for no reason at all.

Cal's move to the Whoniverse has been on the headachey side at times, though.

And hey, at least you have something of a vested interest in it! It's...something. But also why I prefer closed canons.
