Meme! Swiped from [livejournal.com profile] misslucyjane. And this one is actually *gasp* NOT an RP meme.

Give me the title of a story I've never written, and feedback telling me what you liked best about it, and I will tell you any of: the first sentence, the last sentence, the thing that made me want to write it, the biggest problem I had while writing it, why it almost never got posted, the scene that hit the cutting room floor but that I wish I'd been able to salvage, or something else that I want readers to know.

My absolute all-time favourite story of yours was Send Not To Tell, and while I'm not a big slasher, nobody but nobody writes Javert/Valjean like you do. That scene in Javert's tiny room, where the salt spilled all over the floor? I thought my heart was going to explode. It was brilliant. ~flails~ Did your keyboard melt when you were writing that? Because seriously.

Oh, man, I'm so glad that worked for someone. I hate writing smut, or anything even remotely smutlike, but I kind of had to go there or the fic would have fallen apart. So I just tried not to be too explicit. XD I love that you noticed the salt! That was my favorite thing in the fic, I think, but it's such a little thing that I wasn't sure anyone else would really pick up on it.

I really liked your fic Tell Me No Lies. I thought it was cool how you had Dean summon John's spirit to help him find Sam after he was kidnapped by the band of marauding vampires.

Well, you know I had to work John in there somehow. And I really wanted to do something a little different in exploring John's relationships with both his sons (NO, not like that . . . at least not this time), and all the pre-show and S1/S2 angles have been done to death. I actually got the idea from the episode of Grey's Anatomy where Meredith almost dies but Denny and some others talk her into going back. TELL NO ONE.

I loved that scene in "Jeeves and the Teabags", where Bertie realizes he's in love with Jeeves, poignant and yet totally IC.

Would you even believe I tried to write that fic from Jeeves's POV first? Man, that did not work at all. XD

Jeeves' POV is notoriously hard to write from, old thing!

Your best Housefic ever was Wallpaper, where Wilson goes home while he's still high on speed and the wallpaper starts talking to him in the voices of all his ex-wives. It was super crack, but also kind of tragic for Wilson. I kept thinking that House was going to show up and apologize and take care of him. Were you going to put that in at all.

I was originally going for just out-and-out crack with that, but Wilson kind of got in the way, and his first wife's voice was a little clearer for me than I expected, so I just went with it and did a lot of work trying to balance the more serious bits with the funnier stuff.

And yeah, I was planning to have House come by, but - surprise! - he didn't cooperate.

So, basically, I didn't write what I set out to write at all, but I like it better how it came out, so I guess I can live with that.
