Wow, I have been with the fail at posting lately. I'm getting back into the swing of working after the semester, and it's been tiring. Also my manager sucks at life, but I don't want to get pissed off all over again talking about it, so I'm not going any further into that.

Instead, I want to talk about the upcoming new series of Torchwood. (. . . Yeah, I know I quit the show after "Exit Wounds." I am continuing to watch it because SHUT UP, that's why.)

I'm always wrong when I say that. But anyway, I just wanna ask you guys a question. When you consider the following information:

* That there's gonna be a bunch of annoying couple-y Jack/Ianto stuff (seriously, I'm not violently against the ship or anything, but it is SO BORING AND BADLY WRITTEN AND IT IS THE SHIP THAT ATE FANDOM ANYWAY AAAAAUGH so blech)

* That Jack is going to be evasive about said couple-y stuff

* That Ianto's family is going to show up

* That this will all likely culminate in an exchange of heartfelt blah blah blah

. . . when you have considered all this, then tell me, on a scale of one to ten: exactly how violent and gruesome do you think Ianto's death is going to be?

Nobody survives shit like that on TV. It's just too much.

Also: someone is (this is speculation, not a spoiler!) definitely going to die, and I say better Ianto than Rhys.

. . .

Yeah, I know, I just killed Rhys.

I've also heard the rumours about series 4... but on the other hand, it is a fact that they're in the process of getting planning permission for a separate Torchwood exhibition (distinct from the already-existing Doctor Who exhibition) down the Bay, with plans to have it up and running before Christmas. And it seems very strange to me that they'd go to all that trouble and expense for a show that's likely to end very soon.

*joins you in clinging to Rhys*

Eh, not to me. Mind you, I live in Maine and am automatically cynical about any and all transparent attempts to cater to tourists. Tourism is eighty percent of our economy (here in Maine, I mean; this sentence could be clearer but I can't be bothered to do anything more than the token parenthetical edit), and DW/TW is probably the most significant draw for tourism to Cardiff these days. I'd go so far as to argue that if there isn't going to be more shooting to draw crowds, an exhibition might be a logical replacement to keep 'em coming.

But, again: cynical Mainer.

Nah. They do go to a certain amount of effort to keep the Torchwood filming secret - 9 people out of 10 who I've met at filming have been from people who know the area and either happened to hear about what was going on or actively looked for it. Very few tourists. Tourism, whilst useful, is not a major part of Cardiff's economy as far as I can tell -- and the major boost to it comes from Doctor Who, not Torchwood. If Torchwood did get cancelled, I can't see an exhibition being profitable for more than a year at the most - it has a sizable fanbase, but it really isn't embedded in the culture like Doctor Who.

Hmm. I suppose I'm used to a more commercialized, Disneyfied culture, then. Go, US?

Guess so!

Disneyfied this place certainly ain't. It'd be cleaner, for one thing. (I really need to upload my photo of the piece of graffiti from a bench in the Bay that says 'IMPEACH SAXON'.)

It is fantastic and I'm a little bit in love with it just for existing.

Also, I finally manage to convince my godawful internets (hence not bothering to sign out of Sam's account - it just took me five minutes to sign into it) to let me log on to AIM and you're not on there? *stamps foot* :P

*pets* I am about fifteen minutes from heading out the door. It is a day off and there is a movie that must be seen.
