So I've spent the last couple of days watching the 2005 season of Doctor Who as fast as I can download it. I'm up to episode six, "Dalek."

Here is my question: did anyone else giggle hysterically for about five minutes at the revelation that the Dalek was "downloading the entire internet"? I mean. The entire internet? With no sort of "work safe" filter? That's how you know Daleks are tough, man, because that shit would kill a lesser being in two seconds flat.

Even the furry porn? And the stuff that makes furry porn look harmless and wholesome? No wonder it wants to kill everyone.

Me! I was just "OMG even my horrible early fic?" *g*

I can't wait for you to meet Jack (aka the guy I keep going on about).

Oh, we've met. I got introduced by "The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances." I saw the eps up for download, thought they looked interesting, downloaded them, watched them, about hid under my bed in utter terror since my two big horror triggers are scary children and zombies, cried at the end, then raced back to download the reast of the season and start from the beginning. I've gotten through "Boomtown" and I just love it. It is so good. I am counting down the seconds until MegaUpload lets me start downloading again so I can see the last two episodes.

Oh! Oh my.

Yes. That is a terrifying episode. Scary. Totally. And it was so sad and yet not and... "Everybody lives!"

It is my fandom and my obsession and you just have to watch Torchwood now even if the fandom (TW) is terrifyingly scary.

But yes. It is. It just. Is. I cannot even speak of the wonderfulness.

I just. Jack.

Oh, yes. I think that if I had not already been hooked three-quarters of the way through "The Empty Child," it would have happened with "EVERYBODY LIVES!" The sheer joy of it following such a grimly sad story was a wonderful release and so incredibly moving. I think that was just the right story to be introduced to the Doctor with - not only did I get to see his investigative instincts, intelligence, and compassion, but I learned from those two words exactly what his life is like.

And on the practical side, it means I've known from the start what the sonic screwdriver is, and that exposition about the psychic paper in the beginning may have been clumsy as hell, but it saved me some confusion. :D

So I'm finally going back and tagging all my entries (good times, that) and this struck me as a bit of particularly hilarious real life foreshadowing, because HAHAHAHAHA yes. I love TW, and sometimes treat it as seriously as any other fandom, but HI, it is total cheese! It is RTD's big giant Doctor Who fanfic, and he's a slasher! Which is great and awesome, because it's nice to have our fandom fantasies be canon, but the show frequently sucks, sometimes with great intensity. It's entertaining as all hell, but great TV it ain't.

TW fandom is a bastion of sanity compared to Supernatural, though. I pissed someone off and got wanked at with my very first comment in SPN fandom. I'm still impressed by that.

OMG, I'd not even thought of that. I won't be able to watch without giggling now, though.
