HAHAHA.

I had to go down the street to the store to get some half and half, because chicory coffee cannot be drunk black. While I'm waiting, in my Red Sox hat, to cross the street, a car goes by me slowly and a guy leans out the window.

"GO DETROIT! What are you doing with a Boston cap on?"

It's a regular from work, whom I determined was a Tigers fan after questioning him about his Michigan visor earlier this week. We were rather pleased to find other.

"I love both teams!"

HA. I took a little bit of crap yesterday for wearing my Tigers hat, but I never thought anyone would object to the Red Sox one. Although I did spend a good ten minutes yesterday commiserating with an Orioles fan about how our teams are evil to us, during which I failed to mention that I am also a Red Sox fan. Wait'll he comes in on a day when I'm wearing my Sox hat. Somehow I doubt he'll understand that the Sox are not making the Tigers any easier to take.

Things to do today:

* Make phone calls until I have an appointment to get my wisdom teeth out, as they have become quite troublesome as of late.
* Go pick up two weeks' worth of paychecks at the other Cumby's, since they are still being printed there and I don't know where I'm working from week to week anyway.
* Go to the bank and deposit them. Do math and find out if I can afford a trip to Boston to visit [livejournal.com profile] world and, possibly, attend a Red Sox/Tigers game (!!!). Due to a misunderstanding last month in which I paid my roommate more rent than I actually owed, and we agreed to apply it to this month's rent, this might be possible.
* Go to the store and buy food already. I lose at buying food. I hate grocery shopping so I never do it so I end up with days where all I have is ramen and rice.
* Tear myself away from my computer for a couple hours tonight to watch something light and funny, because character bleed really sucks sometimes. I have a whole MST3K collection I've barely touched; I think some dreary German Hamlet might be just the thing.

Quite a day ahead of me. I possibly should have gotten up a touch earlier. Oh, well. I was wiped yesterday and needed to sleep, and also I am not sad that I didn't bother to stay up for the Red Sox game. Losing 13-4, WTF. Yay road trips.

WHOA Clemens is responsible for all five runs the Brewers got yesterday in the 5-2 Astros loss. That's crazy. His ERA has "ballooned" from 1.32 to 1.53. I am so disappointed in him. *snerk* That is the most runs he's given up all season, though one was an inherited runner. Eh, I guess even Roger Clemens has a bad game once in a while, even though it took him till August to do it.

This is me completely ignoring the steroid rumors, by the way, because I love the Astros rotation and I don't know what I'll do if one third of the Big Three isn't doing it on his own. Come on, Roger, don't let us down.

The Astros have lost three in a row now, though, and dropped to second place in the wild card race, tied with the Nats. It's a bit discomfiting, but I still have faith in them (wow, faith in the Astros, tell that to me last May and I'd laugh at you till I choked) and there's plenty of season left.

Well, Bellhorn's been DFA'd. I'd be more upset, but a) the Tigers are taking care of the disturbing drama department, thanks, and b) I pretty much saw this coming a mile away. With Graff tearing it up and Bellhorn continuing his mediocre year rehabbing in Pawtucket, how else could that have gone?

Couple weeks ago, I spent a weekend with [livejournal.com profile] manderspander that was marred in its loveliness only by the Tigers' Awful, Horrible, No-Good, Very Bad Trade Deadline. One of the items on my list of ways to recuperate from said misery:

* Hurry to the mall bathroom to change into your shiny new Bellhorn shirt whilst assuring yourself that this certainly does not mean he will be put on waivers two weeks from now.

The shirt was purchased on August first. I was wrong about the waivers, but I nailed the time period almost to the day.

Oh, I'll still wear the shirt, just like I still wear my Wells #3 shirt. I just won't be happy that exactly fifty percent of my player shirts are now obsolete. Also, I am not allowed to buy any more player shirts until next April. All the ones procured since the end of last season (I also got a Schilling one for Christmas) have not worked out so well.
