catslash: (what now?)

Thanks, Keith. Thanks a lot. Like I didn't suffer enough watching the Tigers waste Justin Verlander's quite nice major league debut?

Sox. Tigers. Why are you both slumping at once? It is strange and unnatural for the Astros to be my good team (THREE GAMES WITHIN .500 YAY). Pick it up already.

Eck pointing out the obvious about Keith: "His confidence is clearly shot at this point." It's beyond shot, Eck, it's dead and buried. And by coincidence its grave is right next to that of the Red Sox Nation's confidence in him. It's not even a surprise when he fucks up a game anymore. The surprise would be if he saved it. Hell, I was surprised that that final at-bat didn't end in a grand slam.

Final Tigers and Sox scores, respectively: 6-0 (sorry, Justin, the offense doesn't seem to like you any more than it likes Nate), and 6-5 (sorry, Manny, no need for that two-run homer).

TOMORROW WILL BE BETTER DAMMIT DON'T MAKE ME COME DOWN THERE.

I really didn't plan to use my irritated Maroth icon so much on its first day.

Well at least it was a wash since Baltimore lost too....this was all Foulke.

Yeah, something needs to be done about this ASAP. Foulke's confidence is at negative 100%. It's gotten to the point where I see him coming in and I just turn off the TV and walk away because I can't stand to watch.

Ooh, nice icon. And so appropriate.

I've heard it suggested that he get DLed for a bit to give him some breathing room, or that he get sent down to Pawtucket to get his confidence back. They have to do something. It is no longer a viable option to just keep putting him in and wait for him to find his groove. Where he is right now, he can't even see his groove with a telescope on a clear day. That is not going to change unless they do something major to shake things up.

Yeah, my worry is that there basically is no good solution. I agree that Foulke needs to be DL'ed or sent down or something. But do we go back to the horrendous closer by committee? I don't see us trading for a good closer - anyone who has a closer halfway decent isn't going to be giving them up. Who do we have, even in the minors who can do it? Maybe once Schill gets back, Bronson can be our closer.

I think we need to send a few operatives to Detroit in the dead of night to kidnap Troy Percival. They have an actual consistent and good bullpen, they'll be fine. And if the offense keeps not doing what it hasn't been doing, it won't matter anyway.

I'm all right with whatever temporary measure it takes to fix Keith. Committee? Pick a name out of a hat? Drag a fan from the stands? Okay, just fix our closer please. Because you're right, we're not going to get anyone from outside our system, so we have to work with what we've got.

*g* It is an awful cute picture, isn't it? My Maroth love has increased exponentially just from looking at it so much.

Mine too, and I don't even follow the Tigers very well! :D That one and one of [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com]'s icons has made me love him insanely though.

Same here. I never "hated" them, but I... intensely disliked them at one point until like July of last year. Which is when she introduced me to them, which in turn taught me not to hate on them. I kinda like them now actually. :D

That's how they get you. Be careful, because next thing you know you will have a chance to watch one of their games, and you will out of curiosity, and they will blow the other team away, and you will be hooked forever. I speak from experience. Their opening day game was awesome. =D

[rofl] That will probably happen some time in the future, I'm sure. It's how I got hooked on a lot of the other teams I like. It's annoying cause I'm at least a moderate fan of like 37472847328 teams, most of them in the AL. Sometimes the rivalry tears me apart, but oh how I love the sweet suffering of it. ;)

Bwaha. Watching the Red Sox/Tigers series last month broke my brain. They have two series next month, I'm kind of not looking forward to it.
