Ha! I now have my very own Internet connection. No more wireless poaching relying on the kindness of strangers.
Also have cable. It's just a matter of splitting the line in my room so it goes to my computer and my TV.
My cable guy was cool. There was a bit of a problem with the modem, and he had to bring in a new one. Apparently, the model Time Warner sent out is one known to be faulty, and yet they sent a bunch to the warehouse anyway. I thought this was pretty funny, and when I asked him about it - ". . . and they just expect you to deal with it?" - he said dryly, "As a Time Warner employee, I cannot speak badly of Time Warner." Awesome.
In celebration, or possibly because I got bored while I was waiting, I have written more fic. I don't have time to post it now, but I will later.
Edit: ARGH. No Tigers game today either. The weather in Detroit sucks.
