Wooo! My last shift at Lamprons was tonight! I'm so glad to be out of there.
I'm also glad to be moving tomorrow. I can't wait to be in Portland, where things happen and I'll have access to public transportation and be able to go out and do things without having to beg a ride off someone. I'm done living with parents; I'm finally feeling that pull to be more independent. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad that for the moment, I'll be living with people I know while I search for a job (AGAIN, groooooan) and a place to live, 'cos I'm not convinced I can pull off the grown-up thing and I'm scared as hell, but it's gotta be done. I'm twenty-one. Enough of this clinging to childhood crap. It's high time I experimented with standing on my own two feet.
However. Since Rikki is, like, surgically attached to her laptop, and Scott's (her father and my landlord) computer is offlimits, my online time will be slim indeed until I can get my own. It's not like Yarmouth, where I could just trapise on down to the library and hop on a computer, because no one else in Yarmouth ever used the computers and the ones at the Portland library are generally full. I'm willing to shell out money to occasionally use the internet cafe, but not too often. I want to go to Rent-A-Center and check out what they've got for computers, but until then I won't be on much, and then only to do e-mail checks and such. Updates will be few and far between, and I won't be on AIM too much. I'm hoping to make the Rent-A-Center trip soon, so with any luck I may be back on in a couple of weeks (my room has Internet access, yay!), but I promise nothing.
I'm gonna miss you guys a lot. I'll be on at least once more before I go, so if you want, e-mail me your phone number so we can keep in touch on the meantime. The phone plan there is a set fee, so I can call anywhere in the US without worrying about long-distance fees.
